Reframe

Privacy Policy

What you write in Reframe is yours. It stays on your iPhone, and we never see it.

In short

What Reframe keeps on your iPhone

Reframe saves what you add to it, inside the app on your iPhone:

There’s no account and nothing to sign in to, so Reframe never asks for your name, your email address or anything else about you.

What we collect

Nothing. Reframe has no server of its own and doesn’t send what you write anywhere. There are no analytics, ads, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.

It goes online only to check with the App Store about Reframe Pro, below, and when you choose to open a helpline directory from Get Help.

Getting help

If what you write suggests you might be thinking of harming yourself, Reframe offers ways to get help. It notices this on your iPhone, as you type, and nothing is sent anywhere or recorded.

Find a Helpline, in Get Help, opens findahelpline.com in your browser. That website is run by others, under its own privacy policy, and Reframe doesn’t tell it anything.

The lock

You can have Reframe ask for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode each time it opens, and hide your journal in the app switcher. iOS checks it’s you: Reframe is only told whether it worked, and never sees your face, fingerprint or passcode.

The daily reminder

If you turn on the daily reminder, Reframe schedules it on your iPhone as an ordinary iOS notification. Nothing about it passes through a server, and it never includes anything you’ve written: each reminder is a short, general nudge.

Backups

Reframe keeps your thought records out of iCloud and computer backups, so a backup can’t expose them. That also means a backup can’t bring them back: if you delete Reframe, or set up a new iPhone from a backup, they won’t come with it.

To keep a copy, export your records as a PDF first.

Exporting your records

With Pro, you can export your thought records as a PDF, made on your iPhone. Reframe hands it to the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes, such as a message to your therapist, a printer, or Files. Once it’s shared, it’s looked after by the app you sent it with.

Buying Reframe Pro

Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store, and can be tried free first. Apple takes any payment and looks after your Apple Account under Apple’s Privacy Policy, and we never see your payment details. Reframe asks the App Store what your Apple Account owns, and remembers the answer on your iPhone.

What Apple may share with us

If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. They never include what you’ve written. You can turn this off in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Deleting your data

There’s no other copy, so once it’s deleted, it can’t be recovered, by you or by us. Your Pro purchase isn’t affected, because Apple keeps it with your Apple Account.

This website

This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies: no analytics, ads or tracking. It’s hosted by Netlify, whose servers keep a log of each visit (your IP address, your browser, the page, and the page that linked to it) to run and protect the site, under Netlify’s Privacy Policy.

If you email us

We get your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply. We don’t add you to any list. The conversation stays in our email account, and we’ll delete it if you ask.

Children

Reframe doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
